something made today

the project: to make something new every day for 365 days.

something: a reflection.

Well it’s almost done. I have come to the end of this project and feel like I should reflect on what I’ve learnt from the last year since I did this as a challenge to myself. It started because I wanted to try something different to a photo a day project which seemed the easiest option (since it’s often my media of choice). I’d just started a Fine Arts program and felt I was lacking motivation so this project was my solution. Force myself everyday to make something. I didn’t set any real requirements other than it had to be ‘made’ - whatever that may entail.

What I learnt:

-Creativity is something you have to work at. On a whole, looking back through the year of posts, I don’t feel I did the best job with it.

- I am capable of making/cooking food and when I practice it actually can taste good.

-It is very easy for me to slack off/get distracted/make excuses. This year was a big test to my mental stamina. Especially since the only person I was letting down by missing a day was myself.

-It is easier for me to post something on the internet than it is for me to present it in person to my peers. (probably because the internet can’t see my cheeks flush pink the minute I have to talk about anything my own)

Although some of my posts were sometimes questionable (sandwiches/trips/homework) I did manage to post close to every day for an entire year. I’m happy about that. And thank you to anyone that followed along or offered me encouragement. I appreciate it and have one final post tomorrow that I’ve been working on.
